Lead Web Engineer at LoungeBuddy (San Francisco, CA)

Why are Web Engineers important at LoungeBuddy?

As one of the first engineers on our web team, you'll have a significant impact on our product direction and company growth. We're looking to focus our web efforts on sharing the wealth of unique lounge data and open up transactions to a broader audience. There are plenty of exciting projects we're working on where you'll have the chance to use and explore a diverse set of technologies. We move fast, but also have a deep focus on core software engineering practices like writing clean and maintainable code.

What are some examples of work a Web Engineer would do?

Web App. We want to overhaul our web presence and make some of our unique lounge data more accessible. We'll be disposing of our current Wordpress site (i know...) and moving to a stack that gives more control over the end product. We'll also be allowing people to purchase access to our supported lounges on the web.

Partner Portal. The relationship with our partners is currently very manual. We want to provide a place for them to manage their locations and surface the wealth of data we have for them. This is the first time lounge managers will have this level of control and visibility since opening (some over 20 years old). They're really excited about this.

Internal Tools. This is what allows LoungeBuddy to run efficiently. It's the hub that helps manage our data, provide amazing customer support (something we pride ourselves on) and gain valuable insights into our company. It's only used by our small team, but is essential to our success.

Anything else?

We're happy to consider non-US citizens. We've had good experience with Australians coming over on E3 visas.

Software Engineer in Test at ScoreBig (Los Angeles, CA)

As a Software Engineer in Test, you will be responsible for designing and developing test frameworks and tools. We are looking for candidates with strong analytical talents and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge to help us assure that our scalable web application meets the highest standards. This is a unique opportunity for an up-and-coming engineer who desires to expand their expertise, while having access to top of the line tools and technologies. This role is evolving and expanding, so you will have the ability to assist in defining the strategy and objectives of the test team.

What we look for
We are an eclectic bunch and we’re passionate about what we do, so it only makes sense that we look for equally passionate people - not just someone who can code, but someone who's curious and is always game to try new things (a sense of humor doesn’t hurt either!). We appreciate someone who understands that there is more than one way to approach a problem and is not confined to the standard way of thinking. We look for chameleons who are able to adapt to changing environments, as ScoreBig progresses forward and new challenges arise.

What you'll be doing
This is not your average QA role – you’ll never get pigeonholed into doing one task over and over again. Your focus will be on designing and implementing testing tools and infrastructures, rather than just finding bugs. You'll work within different parts of our platform based on priority, so you might be working on a new test script for our consumer site one week, then onto developing new tools the next.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other tech team members to build testing tools and frameworks that exercise our applications.

  • Develop new automated tests.

  • Execute, interpret, and report test automation results.

  • Research and develop test automation best practices.

  • Debug and troubleshoot complex issues.

  • Write and execute test plans, debug and report code bugs, and push quality upstream.
