Software Engineer at PredPol (Santa Clara, CA) (allows remote)

We're looking for people to help us build really great software.

Our project started when a team of UCLA researchers got together to try and develop a model for predicting where crime would occur in the future using only the time and place of past crimes. After years of research and field trials with the LAPD and Santa Cruz PD, they created what we now call the PredPol algorithm: a statistical model that can predict 2-3 times as much crime as the best human analyst.

When we brought our crime prediction software to the market for any police department to use we knew we would attract some attention, but we couldn't have imagined what's happened in the last year and a half. Today PredPol is used by large police departments around the world like Los Angeles, Seattle and Atlanta, as well as smaller departments like Westminister, California; Elgin, Illinois; and Norcross, Georgia.

Now, we're looking for software engineers across the stack to help build out, improve, and scale PredPol to predict crime for police departments across the globe. We need developers to work on our front end web application using the latest web technologies (HTML5, JS, CSS), our front end iOS app (native Objective-C), build and maintain the Rails app at the core of our product, and help us maintain and scale our infrastructure to process the world's crime data. If you can help us build software for our customers, we want to hear from you.

We want to build software that works magically well for users, and make predictive policing natural and effortless to use in the real world. We're a young company that's just getting started on an ambitious journey to revoloutionize policing. Come help us build this company and maybe we can make something good together.

Though our entire team is located in either Los Angeles or the Bay Area in California, we're looking for remote workers anywhere in the United States. Everyone at PredPol works remotely, but has access to a local co-working space they can use if they choose. We're eager to get you started as soon as possible. If you're interested, email us at jobs@predpol.com with some info about yourself.
